Screen size chart
Every common diagonal as a 16:9 width and height — the fast lookup when you don't need the full calculator.
The short answer
For any 16:9 screen: width = diagonal × 0.8716 and height = diagonal × 0.4903. A 27″ screen is 23.53 × 13.24 in; a 65″ is 56.65 × 31.87 in. The whole chart below is that one multiplication, done for you in inches and centimetres.

All rows are 16:9 viewable picture dimensions, computed with the same engine as the homepage calculator. For other shapes — 16:10 laptops, 21:9 ultrawides, 4:3 tablets — use the screen size calculator, which takes any ratio or resolution.
How to use this chart
- Furniture and mounts: compare the width column against your cabinet or desk, then add the model's bezel from its spec sheet.
- Comparing two sizes: the area column shows why one step up feels bigger than it sounds — 55″ → 65″ is a 40% jump in area, not 18%.
- Projectors: the same chart gives image width and height for a projected 16:9 picture of a given diagonal.
Frequently asked questions
How wide is a 75-inch TV?
65.37 in (166.04 cm) wide and 36.77 in (93.40 cm) high, as a 16:9 picture.
Why isn't a 32-inch screen 32 inches wide?
The rating is the diagonal. A 32″ 16:9 picture is 27.89 in wide; the missing inches are “spent” on the diagonal's slope — the same reason a 3-4-5 triangle's longest side is 5, not 7.
Does this chart work for phones?
Only approximately — phones are taller than 16:9 (about 19.5:9), so the 16:9 rows understate their height and overstate their width. The phone screen sizes page computes real models from their own resolutions.
